Caledon Public Library thanks all those interested in volunteering with CPL however, due to the large number of applications received, only those only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Applications are kept on file for a period of 6 months.
Casual Office Assistant (Required Age: 12+)
Assist with general office tasks ranging from program material preperation to organizing and sorting. Tasks required may include: cutting out craft material, preparing examples/templates of crafts, drawing or painting pictures/materials, counting ballots, filing documents, and testing out program activities.
Children's Program Assistant (Required Age: 12+)
CPL offers volunteer opportunities to assist with a variety of children and teen programs and events throughout the year, and particularly during summer and March Break. Volunteers may be required to assist with taking program attendance, helping with set up and clean up of program material and providing support to program participants needing tech or activity help.
Teen Reviewer (Required Age: 12+)
This opportunity offers students the opportunity to read Young Adult books and earn volunteer hours for doing so. Teen Reviewers are asked to read a newly published book of their choice from Caledon Public Library’s YA collection and submit a short review, not more than 500 words. Completed reviews may be shared with the public on the library’s social media accounts. Books selected for review are published within the past 6 months.
Homework Buddies (Required Age: 14+)
CPL offers confident students the opportunity to volunteer to help children ages 6-10 who are struggling with reading and or writing. The Homework Buddies program pairs up older high school students with elementary school age students who need some extra help practicing their reading or writing, in English and/or French. French is an asset for volunteering with CPL’s Homework Buddies program.
Tech Teens (Required Age: 14+)
CPL offers student opportunities to volunteer with technology based children and tween programs throughout the year. Volunteers selected to participate in our technology based opportunities will also host our Tech Savvy Teens program and assist patrons weekly with their various technological needs. Experience with social media accounts, Microsoft office, downloading eBooks, 3D printing and coding is recommended. Successful candidates can expect that commitments to volunteering in a Tech Savvy Teen capacity will consist of a pre-determined length of time.
TAG (Teen Advisory Group) (Required Age: 12+)
Members of Caledon Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group will gain experience helping to plan and run events aimed at young adults. TAG volunteers are expected to actively participate in sharing opinions and providing feedback re the library’s teen programming, collections, and much more. Members must be able to attend one meeting per month at the Albion Bolton branch.
