My Library Card

Library Card

  • free to all who live, work, attend school or own property in the Town of Caledon with proof of valid name and current address
  • if you do not live in Caledon, additional identification may be required to show you meet free membership requirements
  • membership is available without charge to those who live or work in the Province of Ontario and hold a current public library membership in a municipality that does not charge Caledon residents a non-resident fee
  • reciprocal borrowers must show their library card and valid name and current address identification to register
  • a $25 yearly non-resident fee applies to all other cards regardless of age
  • your card can be issued and may be used at any branch of Caledon Public Library
  • your card allows you to check out library materials or place a hold on library materials, at any branch of Caledon Public Library
  • your card gives you remote access to on-line and eResources through the library website
  • there is no age limit to becoming a member of Caledon Public Library
  • you are responsible for all items checked out on your card

Children’s Cards

The parent or guardian accepts responsibility for:

  • child’s use of all library services and materials
  • all items checked out on the child’s card
  • all fines and fees incurred on the child’s card

Children 12 years and under require a parent's or guardian's consent and identification plus the parent to obtain a library card.

Damaged, Lost and Stolen Cards:

  • there is a $3 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards
  • all lost or stolen cards and/or key tags are to be reported immediately
  • you are responsible for all items checked out on your card, or your child’s card until it is reported lost or stolen

When you get a library card you are agreeing to:

  • accept all rules and regulations of Caledon Public Library
  • pay all fines and fees incurred
  • pay for all lost or damaged materials
  • report any lost or stolen cards and/or key tags
  • advise the library of any changes in personal contact information
  • confirm personal information on an annual basis

The information contained in your library record is confidential. Caledon Public Library respects the privacy of your library account as outlined by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Public Libraries Act.
