TD Summer Reading Club for Kids               June 17 - September 9

 

BABIES

Babies, toddlers and preschoolers (ages 4 and under) are invited to participate in the TD Summer Reading Club this summer! Complete 8 literacy focused challenges between Saturday June 17 and Saturday September 9 to earn fun prizes. Pick up your summer reading package at any library branch to get started.

KIDS

Children ages 5 to 9 are invited to participate in the TD Summer Reading Club. Keep track of the number of minutes you read through out the summer and collect fantastic prizes for reading for 200, 400, 600 and 800 minutes. Enter to win the grand prize every time you read 200 minutes. If you read for 20 minutes each day you can collect your first prize in 10 days! Visit any library branch to pick up your summer reading package!

TWEENS

Read a book that fits with each category on the Summer Reading Club Bingo card between Saturday June 17 and Saturday September 9 to earn fun prizes.  Return your completed Bingo Card to pick up your prize and receive a ballot for the grand prize! Pick up your summer reading package at any library branch to get started.

 

I Spy Canada 150 Challenge

I spy with my little eye ... a fun hunt at the library! EAch week, the library will focus on a different part of Canada. Images of that province or territory's flag, bird and flower will be hidden for you to find.

This is a DIY activity.

Drip, Drip, Drop!

Nothing helps to beat the heat like going swimming! Join us for a special summer themed story time where we will have some hands on fun with water! Some activities will occur outdoors (weather permitting).

Camping

Keep clean while camping at CPL.This story time designed for experienced campers and non campers alike, will have you listening too stories shared around a campfire while munching on graham crackers and marshmallows.

Fort Building

Fort building is a very exciting activity during sleepover's and birthday parties. Join us for an evening full of favourite fort-inspired stories, songs and rhymes.  Afterwards, CPL encourages you to get creative and show off your own fort-building skills.

Leading to Reading Kits

Borrow a Leading to Reading kit and have fun while learning to read. Each kit contains literacy focused activities for a variety of ages, from learning the alphabet to identifying word sounds and creating descriptive sentences. These fun and educational activity boxes will help you practice your litracy skills.

Ready, Set, Code!

Join us as we complete new coding challenges each week and learn how to make games, animated stories and interactive art, that can be shared with others.

DIY: Mini Minecraft Architects

Minecraft fans will have a blast creating and designing new landscapes each week. Participants will find a series of tasks within the world to aide them with their building. Have fun exploring your new world.

All minecraft abilities welcome. Participants do not need to bring their own mobile device or their own Minecraft account.

Police Academy for Kids

Join us for a very special story time hosted by the Caledon OPP in partnership with the library. Children will have an opportunity to learn about some of the items and gadgets our OPP officers carry with them on the job and learn what it takes to be a police officer.

Detective Science

Children will step into the role of a detective and discover how forensic science plays a central role in solving crimes. They will create and analyze fingerprints, examine dental records, make teeth impressions and discover how written materials can be analyzed to help solve a crime. Their powers of observation will be put to the test. Everyone will make a Child Identification Kit to record their fingerprints and other vital information.

True North Science

Mad Science is excited to visit your Summer Reading Club with an interactive, exciting workshop featuring home-grown Canadian science! Your junior scientists will get to experience hands-on experiments and discoveries while they learn about Canada’s contribution to science for the past 150 years.

Using the theme Celebrating Canada 150, submit your short story, poetry and/or photography and you could win! New this year! Click.Create.Celebrate is having a bit of a makeover! The different components of the contest, that is photography, short story and poetry, will be held at various times throughout the year. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Activities @ CPL

There’s always something to do at the library, including DIY (do-it-yourself) activities that you can enjoy anytime you visit. Activities can appeal to all ages from young families with small children to teens and adults.  Activities are informal and may be ongoing or spontaneous and they offer wonderful ways to discover, create, explore and interact, all while in the comfort of your community library.
