Flash Fiction Writing Contest for Adults & Teens

There’s a lot of value in losing yourself in another world. That feels especially true right now, when we’re all stuck inside, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. What better time to start getting creative. CPL is hosting a Flash Fiction Writing Contest for Adults & Teens.

  • Two age categories: adults (19+ yrs of age) and teens (12 to 18 yrs of age)
  • Closes:  April 30, 2020     **DATE ENTENDED TO THE END OF THE MONTH!**
  • Limit:  1 story per entrant
  • Format:  type-written, double spaced, clean copy with no identifying marks/or writer's name on body of submission
  • Maximum:  750-1000 words, with word count noted on last page (words included to be title, headings and all words that make up the body of the story)
  • Format:  Word or PDF
  • Theme:  open
  • Language:  English
  • 1st place $100, 2nd place $75, 3rd place $50 
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes awarded for both adults and teens
  • By entering a submission the entrant agrees to allow, if placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd,  their first and last names and short story to be published on the Caledon Public Library website and on the library's social media platforms.
