Caledon Public Library



CPL’s mobile Wi-Fi hotspots will provide unlimited, no-charge Internet access to Wi-Fi enabled devices through the Rogers cellular network.  Up to fifteen devices can be connected at one time.  While the goal is provide all patrons with Internet access, service will be dependent on the availability of the cellular network in the area where the hotspot is being used.  CPL cannot guarantee connectivity.

No personal data will be stored and Internet activity is not monitored.  Users must abide by Caledon Public Library’s Public Internet and Technology Acceptable Use Policy.

In order to determine demand for and satisfaction with this service, we require that all users fill out a survey during their loan period or following the return of the hotspot to the Library.  Online surveys are available here Hotspot Survey and print surveys are available at all branches.

Terms of Use

Lending period - 1 week

Holds - Holds are allowed

Renewals - Allowed only if there is not a waiting list

Eligibility - Users must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by a parent or guardian, and must have a CPL library card in good standing

Overdues - Overdue fee is $2/day.  Internet service will be suspended the day after the hotspot is due back to the Library

Usage Fees - There are no usage fees and data is unlimited

Service Coverage - Access is available anywhere in Canada where there is Rogers cell phone coverage.  The Library cannot guarantee service or connection in all areas of Caledon.  International service is not provided

Content and Usage - By checking out a Hotspot, all users agree to abide by Caledon Public Library’s Public Internet and Technology Acceptable Use Policy

Privacy - Caledon Public Library does not monitor or store any data related to user’s Internet activity

Loss or damages - Patrons will be responsible for the full replacement value for devices that are lost, damaged or tampered with.  The replacement cost is up to $200. Patrons may also be responsible for the replacement value of lost adapters and cables.

 Instructions for Use

  1. Press button to power ON/OFF. Keep pressed until Welcome appears on screen. Wait until the hotspot has connected to the Rogers network successfully.
  2. Ensure your device (ie: tablet, computer, laptop, etc.) has Wi-Fi enabled. Search for available wireless networks. Connect your Wi-Fi device by selecting Caledon Public Library Wi-Fi on your device. Enter key provided on the device or inside the box. Enjoy browsing the internet. 
  3. Charging the hotspot device may be required. An AC adapter and micro USB cable have been included for this purpose.
  4. Before you return the hotspot, please make sure that the unit is charged and then power it OFF by pressing the power button for a few seconds until you see the ZTE logo shrink. Make sure to include all items listed below when returning to the library.
